What Your Support Made Possible

Every fund the Foundation holds exists to do something specific at the Academy. This is the record of what each one has accomplished.

Professorial Chair Fund

1 update

  1. Chairs endowed in donors' names now teach across the Academy

Professorial chairs established by individual donors, alumni classes and partner institutions underwrite teaching in subjects across the Academy — among them management, leadership, mathematics and economics. Each chair carries the name of the donor or the class that endowed it, and its earnings fund a grant to the faculty member appointed to hold it. The principal is never spent, so a chair endowed once goes on supporting the subject it was created for year after year.

Endowment Fund

1 update

  1. Gifts that outlast the giving

The Foundation's endowment donors include alumni classes, senior officers, partner institutions and corporations. Their gifts are held as permanent funds: the principal is preserved and only the earnings are drawn, so an endowment continues to support the Academy's academic programmes long after it was made. An endowment may be established in the donor's own name or in a class's honour.

General Fund

1 update

  1. Sending the Academy's teachers back to school

Gifts that are not designated go where the need is greatest, and this year that has meant developing the faculty. Members of the PMA teaching staff are reading for graduate and specialised degrees part-time while continuing to teach, with the Foundation covering their tuition and school fees and a book allowance each term. The Foundation has also supplied books and reference materials to the Academy, and is working with the PMA on a plan for every member of the faculty to hold a doctorate.
